Bergerac
Bergerac is a medium-sized city, located on the shore of the Dordogne. This river divides the city in two, the Northernmost part being the largest. The South is mostly made up of industry, larger shopping centers, and the airport. As a flying destination, Bergerac is a good choice, since its airport is small and easily accessible.
Bergerac’s old center is definitely worth a visit. You will find the Maison du Vin here, and close to it, a cosy little square surrounded by the oldest buildings in the city. Take a stroll through the little streets and you will think yourself in the Middle Ages.
Around the slightly higher church, a nice market is being held every saturday.
On the docks next to the river, it is nice to settle down on one of the terraces, or to join a small cruise on the Dordogne and enjoy the many beautiful views.
While you are in Bergerac, drive a little further and visit the nearby Chateau Monbazillac. From the castle, the view is dazzling, and you have the opportunity to taste and buy the famous sweet wine of the same name.
